A Gentle, Non-Invasive Approach to Healing
At World of Animals – Bensalem, we’re proud to offer veterinary acupuncture—a gentle, non-invasive therapy rooted in ancient Chinese medicine. Acupuncture can be especially helpful for pets living with chronic conditions, such as arthritis, and provides a safe way to support healing, reduce pain, and restore balance.
Conditions Acupuncture May Help With
Acupuncture can be used on its own or alongside traditional medicine to provide relief for:
Neck and back pain
Arthritis and musculoskeletal injuries
Cancer symptoms and chemotherapy side effects
Respiratory problems (such as asthma)
kidney disease and failure
Behavioral issues (such as phobias)
Acute and chronic conditions not fully responding to other treatments
Senior pet care and mobility issues
Neurological recovery and immune system support
Traditional Acupuncture
This centuries-old healing practice works by gently placing very fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body. These points help stimulate the body’s natural healing response, improve circulation, and restore balance. Most pets tolerate this extremely well—many even relax or nap during their session!
Modern Alternatives
For pets who are too energetic to sit still, or for those who prefer needle-free options, we also offer:
- Laser Point Therapy – Using therapeutic lasers on acupuncture points.
- Aqua Puncture – Injecting a small amount of sterile fluid at acupuncture points.
- Moxibustion – Applying warmth from burning dried mugwort near acupuncture sites.
What to Expect at Your Pet’s Appointment
Most pets handle acupuncture comfortably, and over time many even look forward to their visits. Because the needles are so fine, discomfort is rare. Sessions typically last 30–40 minutes, and we encourage you to bring your pet’s favorite treats (frozen snacks last longer!) to make the experience even more enjoyable.
The number of treatments your pet may need varies—some respond after three to eight initial sessions, while others benefit from maintenance visits every few weeks. Each treatment plan is personalized to your pet’s unique needs.
